Miracles of Love

I wrote this for Bryton to give as a talk in primary. I wanted her to give a talk that was different but still about the topic she was supposed to talk about and the Lord Jesus Christ! She liked the poem and I did as well, so this was her primary talk she gave!

Miracles of Love
Jesus Christ worked miracles. He paved the way for you and me.
He healed the sick and raised the dead. He even made a blind man see.
He shows us all His love everyday and talks to us through prayer.
He died for you and me a like, to show us how He cared.
He demonstrated what it’s like to be perfect just like Him.
He confirmed to us that we can live without letting His light dim.
If we have the love of Christ in our hearts throughout the day,
We can be a better people all because He showed the way.
Christ wanted all to know His love, especially the youth,
He showed himself to Joseph Smith so we could learn the truth.
Zacharias and Elisabeth prayed for a baby, but felt they were too old.
God sent Gabriel down to tell them she would have a baby they could hold.
Today we have a living prophet to explain the teachings, Christ wants us to learn.
Hoping we will pray as well, and to our Father, our hearts will turn.

Healing Smiles

This is a poem I wrote for my little friend, Jackson. He is everything this talks about and so much more. Jackson, we all hope you get better soon! We Love You!

A smile can heal a thousand wounds, both big and small the same,
But the smile you show, heals ten thousand wounds,
And with it, a lion you could tame.
Your innocence so clean and pure, you show us how to care.
Your happiness is a treat for all; it makes everyone want to share.
We’ll share our love, we’ll share our tears. We’ll all be joyful still,
Because we have learned from your good grace,
You have sealed the deal.
Your voice so sweet, your nature so innocent, your smile, as big as the sea,
If we could learn from your grace and joy then remember to have lots of glee.
You always seem to brighten the darkest room in the house, it always seems that
No matter what, you’re happy as a mouse.
So as we sit and wait for you to come back home to us,
We’ll learn from you and patience we’ll have,
We will never make a fuss!

Beautiful World

This is Bryton's poem that she wrote for Reflections. I helped her find some describing words and get her sentences together a little bit. I helped her think of rhyming words but she came up with all the beautiful things to talk about. I guess maybe she got my artistic nature. She wants to win so bad. I hope she does!! One more thing this is her version of the words and how they are spelled. I have put the poem and real spelling of the words underneath it!

Butifl Wrld

Beauty is my famile siting down as wun.
Beauty is the poring rane making puddls just for fun.
Beauty is the sunlite beeting down on me.
Beauty is the ranebo shining brite for all to see.

Beauty is the rainbow shining bright for all to see.
Beauty is the sky above holding clouds so fluffy and light.
Beauty is the singing birds flying through the night.
Beauty is the mountains with snow so white and sure.
Beauty is the snowflakes falling down so pure.
Beauty is the purring cat, snuggling up to catch a nap.
Beauty is the soft puppy dog, chewing my new cap.
Beauty is the colorful flowers swaying in the breeze.

Heart, Mind, and Soul

This poem was about a boy I really liked in high school, then one day I got to school and I saw him kissing another girl. As a teenager I thought my world was over. I was really good friends with the girl so it broke my heart and I felt like she had stabbed me in the back but really she had no idea what was going on. It was him the whole time, stupid teenage boys, but I got over it pretty quick.

Heart, Mind and Soul

I see you sitting, staring at me thinking I don’t know. I have watched you for so long. We both gaze at each other; I feel my heart pounding. I see you looking my way, I look at you; we sit gazing into each other’s eyes. You know that you can feel my heart pounding, not even realizing what you mean to me. I long to feel your hand your hand squeezing so tight; then it happens. We sit close, not seeing the world around us. I feel my heart jump from my chest. Talking to air, not hearing the words, just watching as you pull me closer, I wanted to die in your arms. Then you walk away, not knowing what to do, sitting there in awe. I wanted to run after you. I walk away, but my mind, my heart, my soul is screaming for you to come back to me. I want you back in my arms; I can’t let go. I won’t let go; screaming for help deep inside. You found someone else, someone whose heart will jump too. I feel I no longer have a heart, a mind or, a soul. I’m just sitting there with nothing to say, nothing to do, pleading come back. I can’t let you go; I want you to be mine. I want you for my own, but you found another, someone more pretty than I. I’ve lost you but I will never forget you. You will always be with me; you are my heart, my mind, and my soul.

December 1999
So this was when I first started writing poems, it is extremely cheesy and a little early for the season but for some reason I was in a Christmas mood in August!!? Well, hope you enjoy, I am having fun going back to all my old poems and re-reading them again, even if just to see how I have grown in the writing field.

No Time

It’s time to go it’s time to run,
no time at all, no time for fun.
Sometimes I wish, oh can’t you see?
Sometimes I wish there was more time for me.
I dream and dream my wish could come true,
I dream and dream it’s the best I can do.
I’m always hoping this day is it,
I’m always hoping then I got hit.
I was hit with the spirit Christmas brings,
It made me realize I was flying with wings.
I could walk, I could run, I could do what I please,
unlike some other less fortunate than me.
I took so much for granted, it took my breath away,
I didn’t know I had so much, I didn’t know what to say.
Now I look back and think of my time here,
and tell myself I have nothing to fear.
I decided that life is not worth living,
if you’re not in the spirit of giving.

Life

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted anythng. I have been so busy between Bryton's school and my classes, there has been no time to play on the internet, for fun anyway. Well, This is a poem I wrote for some friends when they got married. I was a bridesmaid in their wedding and this was my gift to them. I typed it up and put it in a nice frame. I looked really nice. I hope they still have it but I don't know I don't talk to them very often anymore. I hope you enjoy this new poem and sorry they don't go in a specific order for you!

Life

On this day in your lives, two becomes one.
Your circles complete, the puzzle’s almost done.
You’re joining your hands, your lives, and your hearts,
To promise to love until death do you part.
Along the road, there may be some bumps on the way,
But never give up and don’t ever stray.
There may be times when you feel afraid, but just
Hold on tighter and you’ve got it made.
If you cling to each other when things get to tough;
You’ll make it through the hard times
And life won’t seem so rough.
Always look for the good times, never dwell on the bad,
Just make sure you stick together, and
Remember the fun times you’ve had.
On this day in your lives, two becomes one.
Your circles complete the puzzle’s almost done.
You’re joining your hands your lives and your hearts,
To promise to love until death so you part.

Good Luck

I am puting yet another poem on my blog! This one is the one I wrote for my brother, Preston, before he left on his mission. I read it at his farewell!

Living the Gospel

Where will I be without you?
Where will I be when you go away?
What will I do when you leave here?
Is goodbye just something they say?
Your leaving this life for two year to come,
Living the gospel, and teaching to some.
So live your life to the fullest, tech to the best,
Because after it’s over your put to the test.
There’s people out there who need your loving touch,
Helping them out won’t take very much.
I know you can do it, though I know it will be hard,
away from home, just don’t let down your guard.
So away you go for two years to come,
Teaching and preaching until you are numb.
You’ll do a good job and I know you’ll have fun,
As long as you remember you’ve already won.
When the time comes to say goodbye,
I’ll try to be strong and try not to cry.
I’ll see you again after two years have passed,
But I’ll just keep praying that it will go well,
that you can do good and, not feel like failed.
In the eyes of the Lord everyone is a winner,
Including you too and even the sinners.
Good Luck, Preston! I love you!
